Project: Website Redesign
Target User: Lottery members age 35 to 60
Goals: Simplify playing the lottery online; modernizing the design to conquer a new younger target audience (20 to 35) but still easy enough to use for older people; optimizing for mobile devices

Our research (analytics and heatmaps) showed that the majority of our users (about 88%) accessed the website with a desktop computer. Using this insight, we optimized - against common best practice - for desktop first but still made sure to create a product that is responsive based on the Bootstrap framework.
Lotto Berlin cooperated with 6 other federal states (Bremen, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Rheinland-Pfalz, Saarland, Sachsen, Schleswig-Holstein) on this project.
So one challenge was to come up with a design that is unique in the German lottery world but still can be reused and modified by another state. In the backend, the engineers implemented a modular concept that allowed the editors to customize, place and combine content in different ways. On the frontend side, each federal state would be distinguishable by its image language.
